I asked Keith's opinion

I'm ready to sash and border the spiderweb blocks and had 3 combinations pinned to my design wall this afternoon to study while I was quilting another HeartStrings top (sent to me by Lori in CA for quilting). Since I wasn't any closer to a decision by the time Keith got home I asked which one he liked and he chose the center - olivey green combination.

Figuring what the heck - I cut out the inner border and part of the sashing and starting assembling the top tonight but with 2 blocks sashed I'm worried. I'm going to stop and reassess once I have daylight.

This quilt has really been a pain especially for something that was supposed to be a quick donation quilt from some leftover strips.

I like the middle olive as well!
Enjoy!

I like the olive, too. (The one on the left would be my second choice.) Go for it! (Especially if you're not going to be looking at it and questioning yourself for years to come.)

Stay with what you've started, especially since you aren't really enjoying this quilt - it will feel good to get it done! Then you can move on to the next one. And think - look at the fabric you busted from your stash. And think - someone is going to really like it. You do such a great job at trying all sorts of different patterns, settings, colors... with all that variety there are bound to be favorites, and then, well the others that you will think 2X before repeating. Which ones do you think of as some of your favorites? Just curious because you have so many different ones! I really like how the Chinese coins came out...

Cheers!

My first choice (judging from the picture- is the lighting good?) would be the middle one, second would be the dark one on the left. If this is a donation, keep on keeping on with it. If you don't have to live with it, you don't have to love it.

Yup! He made a good choice. I too like the middle one with the black being a close second.

Keep going! They all look fine and I'd say don't start ripping out.

I was immediately drawn to the olive green as well - it looked great in the coin quilt you just completed too!

I agree with Gail - "If you don't have to live with it, you don't have to love it."

I like the olive green, and as a good # 2 is the black option.
Surfing your blog is like a kickstart to my own string blocks today :-)

Oh boy - I'm odd woman out - I like the dark border, but not thrilled with the fabric that sits next to it. But then, I ALWAYs like a more dramatic look!

ALL your quilts are wonderful - this one will also be wonderful, no matter which you choose.

The olive is the most striking in the picture - but upon looking more closely, any of the three would be good. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you have such a good eye for color!

I'll be a rebel too. I think if you're limited to those three choices, I'd go with the one on the left--looks to be a black. But if you have anything lighter and more cheerful in your stash, I think I'd audition it to see what it looks like. The overall look of the blocks is bright and cheerful; these fabrics for sashing, while they provide nice contrast, look kind of dull. But, like everyone else said, if you've already started on the green and don't want to mess with it, keep on going. It's still a nice look.

I like the dark the best. I think against the black, it makes the strings look a little cheerier. They look like they are floating. I do a lot of charm baby quilts with black, so I'm kind of partial.

My second choice is the olive....it's growing on me. So to get it out of your ife, just keep going! It will be well loved!
