Today, Mom and I particpated in a stay at home retreat on my Stashbuster list.
I finished piecing a top - a UFO. I'd wanted to make some windmill blocks and this was intended to be a quick donation quilt. It sat around for a couple years so it certainly wasn't quick. It's plain looking but it WILL look cuter when it's quilted! I hope.
Mom was working on a quilt for my niece. It's based on a McCall's pattern but I couldn't find the magazine so I drafted it in EQ5. We'd picked out the fabric when I was here last week and I cut it out for her then too. It's looking better than my UFO.

Glad your mom if feeling well enough to sew-her quilt is really nice. Hope she feels more herself soon.
Mary, is the one that your mom made in school colors? I think I remember seeing that pattern way back when.
I am sure that any child would enjoy the windmills--very cheerful with the yellows and I know you will do a bang up job quilting them up.
I love both of your quilts. Is your mom's a special gift for someone?
Its great to have a quilt retreat -- even at home.
Both quitls look gppd. I really like the colors in the top quilt. Nice to have a quilting retreat with your mom.
I like them both too!
Blue and yellow combinations are always pretty to me. What's the VT in your Mom's quilt stand for, University of Vermont or someone's initials?
Mary - it looks like you and your Mom are making good use of your time together! I read on the Stashbuster's list that your Mom's quilt is going off to University this fall - it is a great quilt to show school spirit! Yours is pretty too and I can't wait to see how you are going to quilt it up.
Cheers!
Evelyn
Mary,
Both quilts are beautiful, I like the brightness of the colors. Some child is going to love snuggling under the windmills.
How are you going to quilt it?
I think your quilt is very nice. So is your Mom's but I think I like yours better. And some lucky child will be thrilled to have it.
hooray for an at-home retreat! certainly saves on gas ;-) Looks like lots of great things got done!
Sounds like a great way to spend the day with your mom. I really like both of the quilts. Can't wait to see them quilted!
nice quilts! glad you were able to get so far on them-
They are both great. I like yours better - especially the colors. Besides, it isn't a competition!
I agree with everyone else - both quilts are wonderful. Each is different - but each one will make someone happy.
I like the idea of a stay-at-home retreat. After retirement I hope to treat myself to many stay-at-home retreats.
