Churchmouse Yarns & Teas

This is really stupid but I didn't even think to check to weather in Seattle before leaving Atlanta - it's August so I packed shorts. The first thing I had to do this morning was buy a sweatshirt. I'd worn jeans on the plane but didn't think to pack a jacket or sweatshirt - did I mention it's AUGUST?! This probably indicates how unprepared I am to live in Minneapolis!!

I've had a wonderful day - walking all over downtown Seattle, taking a ferry to Bainbridge Island and walking around there, and visiting Churchmouse Yarns & Teas.

I'd visited Seattle last summer for the first time and found this yarn shop - they were SO helpful and encouraging that I decided I could teach myself to knit. I bought a great book and some yarn and have been knitting (very simple things that don't have to fit) ever since. I wanted to visit them again this year and get yarn for a hat and scarf. They spent time helping me find simple patterns and yarn. I love this place!

You drove from Georgia to Seattle? That is a long drive. Mercy! We lived in Issaquah, just east of Seattle, for several years. Loved it. I loved the mist falling down the mountains. But when the sun came out, what a sight to behold! I hope you have an enjoyable time. Go to In The Beginning quilt shop, if you can. You will love it!

oh I should have warned you Mary! I was considering driving the little over 3 hours to come and visit you but too many other commitments this weekend-oh well, now you have another memory of Seattle, your sweatshirt! In the Beginning quilt shop is no longer by the way.

You are one sweatshirt closer to being prepared for Minneapolis. =)

I think it was Mark Twain who said that the coldest winter he ever spent was summer in San Francisco - and San Fran is sort-ov in the same neck of the woods as Seattle (OK, it's a stretch, but you get what I'm saying!).

What a wonderful shop to find! And, it sounds like you have had great fun knitting over the past year. I too have some favorite yarn shops...

Cheers!

Evelyn

Enjoy your visit, Mary. If you pick up some maps, maybe you can do your own walking tour of the city.
Funny, I thought the PNW was having it's hottest summer on record. Guess that's over.

It sounds like you have found yourself a very portable craft and a friendly, helpful shop in the meantime!

I have friends locally that are also in Seattle and Washington state right now--probably ran into the same changeling weather. In the South it is almost short weather from March to October---I so hate my summer clothes by season's end. Finn can give you a better idea of WI-MN weather patterns since she "up thata way"

Good that you found some knitty projects to warm the winter ahead. Did you find any specialty teas there?
