Stashbuster's Weekend Retreat
I got an early start this morning - up and cutting out my Autumn quilt at 6:30AM. Very unusual for me because I usually sleep late (not just on the weekends either!) which is one of the wonderful things about not working.
I debated which pattern to use for this year's Autumn quilt - I really like Judy's October quilt for an hour pattern - Leaf Season but I've been wanting to do Bonnie's Pineapple Blossom for a long time too. In the end I chose to do the Pineapple Blossom because I think it will best with my fabrics. Do you see some purple in these blocks? Last year was the first time I'd used purple in one of my autumn quilts - trust me it works!
Keith won't be home until dinner time and I hiked 10 miles yesterday so today will be spent working on this top.

Love your autumn blossom! I plan on making Judy's new pattern as my new autumn quilt. I just love the way she set it togehter. But then I see this one of yours and I want to do it too. LOL! Guess that one could always be next years autumn quilt.
It's going to be beautiful Mary. And you are right - a touch of purple is definitely needed in every autumn quilt. Not sure why, but it makes all the difference in the world.
Ooh, Mary, I like this one too. You have a great sense of color.
your quilt reminds me of the colors "up north" in Wisconsin in the fall, when I've gone to visit my in-laws! it's going to be beautiful...
Oh, Mary, the blocks are gorgeous! Makes me want to do an autumn quilt RIGHT NOW. Of course, by autumn stash is in Australia and I'm here, but we'll catch up with each other soon.
Bonnie's Pineapple Blossom pattern is a real keeper, isn't it?
I love the pattern and colors. You're quilt is going to be beautiful.

Great colors! YES to purple: blackberries, elderberries, grapes ...
Jeanne :)
Gorgeous colors!! That is going to be a beautiful quilt!! Makes me want to dive right into my stash and start it too. :) And purple is a definite in any Fall quilt (and most other seasons to, IMHO) :). Can't wait to see it finished!
The colors are wonderful-like a bright, crisp autumn day. This will be grand.
Beautiful Fall colors and a very nice block to show off those colors.
Beautiful, your quilts are sooo stunning.
I love those bright and cheerful colours. This will be a lovely quilt.

Purple works in ANY quilt...well maybe not a christmas quilt, but I could try it and see! This pattern is a favorite of mine too! The blocks are so colorful and really great!
Just beautiful Mary. You sure have been busy lately, and good on you for getting up early to work on your quilt. You're not the only one who's not a regular early riser ... this reader is a late riser too!
*hugs*

This quilt is beautiful! I love the colours you are using - especially the addition of purple. I have also made a fall quilt where I added purple. It did give the quilt some extra sparkle!
Wow - you are off to a great start and the colors are beautiful! I have a collection of fall blocks and I used snippets of blue - I added blue to represent the blue, blue skies in all the swirling leaves colors - and I thought it looked good - just as your purple does!
Cheers!
Evelyn
I love the colors in your Autumn quilt. It is going to be one beautiful quilt.
Do you always separate your trash or did you just do it for the pictures?
Just look at the color in this quilt...oh that is beautiful!!
Pretty! (I need to do my autumn quilt - I have had it cut out for almost 2 years....) I agree about the purple working - wonder if mine has any - that is how long it has been since I looked at it!
Wow! Love the Pineapple Blossoms! ... and all the other goodies on your BLOG.
That autumn quilt is just beautiful. I really love it! I made one with that pattern and it is a fun one to work up.
