I miss quilting

In the past, my daily routine typically allowed me to quilt anywhere from 4-6 hours a day and I miss spending that time creating my quilts. In the last several months I've had other priorities and with another month or two to go before life settles back down I'm going through withdrawal.

In the meantime, I've packed two activities bags for the trip to Minneapolis; one is full of yarn and knitting projects and the other has my Cathedral Windows. I also have a stack of books so I'm sure I won't get as much done as I'd like but these projects will get me through this trip and will be waiting for me in Minneapolis when I head back up for Christmas.

You should see my "fun" bag when I'm just going for a weekend! My husband now expects me to fly back into the house to get that ONE MORE PROJECT I just cannot LIVE without! But then he never lets me drive cause he cannot figure out what to do with himself in the passenger seat...Safe journey.

Mary, I've been thinking alot about you, your travels and your upcoming move. Soon, it will all be behind you and you'll be able to enjoy all the wonderful things that Minnesota has to offer.

Moving is so stressful. The buildup before actually leaving and then the stress once you arrive. Why don't you take the cathedral windows and the knitting back and forth with you. You should be able to get a good dent in them over the next 3 weeks. Or treat yourself to a new handproject, wool felt maybe. If you keep working on something, you'll feel better. Remember too, you will have a new long arm to work on as a reward once the stress is over!

Have a safe trip Mary.

Nice photo of you at the lake. Looks like a lovely place to go for a walk.

I hear you, Mary, about the withdrawal. No sewing machine for me until Dec. 4 and I'm feeling really deprived. The knitting and Cathedral Windows projects sound perfect, and I'm glad you and Keith won't be apart so long.

I know how you feel about missing your quilting time. I miss it a lot since I'm working. I guess that tells you how much we really need to express our creativity through our quilting. It's probably done wonders for our psyche over the years and we don't even realize it until we can't do it for whatever reason.
