I've been toying with the idea of getting a laptop on and off for a couple months. I miss my computer when I'm not at home and I'd like to be able to work on things and not be chained to my desk. Computing in the living room, the coffee shop down the street, even the park sounds good.
I said something to Keith yesterday thinking he'd tell me it wasn't something I needed - usually I can count on him for that - but instead he said it sounded like a good idea and go ahead and get one. So I ordered one from Dell today and it should arrive within the week. It's the pretty red one pictured above!
It's something I want - not need. I am SO spoiled.

Ohhhhh very cool, I'm happy for you, Mary!
After using it for a while, I'm betting you'll say it's something you need! I'd be so lost without my laptop but I also confuse myself -- having e-mail, EQ and all kinds of stuff on one computer when I'm on the other computer. Thank goodness for those little thumb drive things!
You're going to love it!
And the problem with getting something you want rather than need would be??? You will love your laptop, I miss my old one!
Oh fun! You are going to just love it and wonder how you ever lived without it.
Mary, please be careful when buying from Dell. Their customer service is H!!!! I just went through a serious hassle requiring a new keybord for mine and it took a month to get it. I use my computer to earn my living, so you can only imagine the difficulties. Personally, if I were to buy another laptop, I'd have one custom built by a local company.
I've had my laptop for 2 1/2 years and can't imagin ever going back to a desktop computer.
It's too bad you got poor customer service from Kerry's. I purchased one of their cabinets last year at a show and love it.
I'm on my second Dell...love it, love it and love it some more. My new one (arrived around Memorial Day) had the media center buttons on the front along with sound...love it...and I am totally loving Windows Vista...I usually buck the new operating systems but this one has lots of good pluses!
Enjoy it...a laptop is the only way to go IMHO

Yeh, you bad!! But you're gonna love it. Kelly and the girls say Hi. Check the blog for pics.
That's funny, Mary, I've been telling my DH that I'd love to have a laptop so I'm not tied to my desk top. He agrees and keeps telling me to purchase one. Soon! LOL
Love your mom's coffee table/quilt chest. I'm so sorry to hear that you had problems with Kerry's Collectibles.
I'm another fan of the laptop. I still have the desktop and I still use it every day, but the portability of the laptop has very much made life easier and the soreness and pain in the back of my neck/shoulder area from trying to read the monitor on the desktop has stopped by using the laptop. Good luck with Dell. I don't have one but I know people who love theirs.
Don't feel guilty about the laptop. I bought one a few months ago and it is one of the best things I've ever bought!! I'm so jealous that you will be getting a RED laptop - my fav colour :)
You'll love your Dell. Over the last 6 or so years we've had lots of Dells probably 4 or 5. Bought them for our GC, DH's laptop and I'm still using a desktop ... but thinking about a laptop. Love the Red.
I just got my second laptop to use specifically for travel. Here's something to consider....I've made a decision to do all financial transactions and records on the PC that's always at home. I consciously do not do any of that on the laptop that I use for travel.
3 years ago my hubby ggot me a Mac for Xmas, and it's fabulous to have it right on your lap when you want to go somewhere!
Your hubby is a keeper!
