avoidance? denial?

I had my sewing room clean 2 weeks ago - ready to be packed up even. Then I just had to make a log cabin quilt from my scrap bins (still only 2/3 assembled) and made a big mess.

Yesterday instead of assembling the rest of the blocks, I pulled fabric and started making my wonky trees. A couple more trees were made tonight and if that wasn't enough I had to pull out my postcard stuff. These button flowers are from the book Fabric Leftovers and the background fabric was hand dyed by Deb. While I'm not completely happy with this first attempt, they are cute and I'll try them again. After the move. Tomorrow I get serious about cleaning up and packing what I can.

It's 1AM now and I'm going to bed - to read. I'm too stressed to sleep.

That is a wonderful skyline view from your porch. I'm sure you will enjoy your new home. When we moved last year, the hardest part of packing was parting with my sewing "stuff", even if it was for just a few months. It goes fast tho, because there is so much going on.

I love the button flower post cards. They are just too cute for words. Guess I'll think about making some post cards too. Hang in there with the moving. It IS worth it!

It's not avoidance or denial - its addiction! Fortunately for us, there is no twelve step program for quilting!

Oh what happy flowers on that postcard!

And I think I might just have to do a tree quilt now. See the monster you have created??

I've been doodling/sketching some postcard ideas as they come to mind...this is similar to one I drew up ~ the difference is you used wire and my stems will be stitched...

Cute, cute cute!!!

I do the same thing before a move; start new projects. For me, it is definitely procrastination of the work!

Your postcard is darling, Mary. LOVE the blue buttons...clever idea.

I always feel a little unfocused when I've got a million and one things going on in my life. We just happen to work well under pressure! Keep smiling!

The postcard is great and so are the trees! Good luck moving! (pack the quiltsupplies and fabrics last and unpack them first!)

Sounds more like stress-reducing therapy to me!!! I often have to squeeze in some sewing here and there - especially when I am under a deadline and feel like it is the last thing in the world I should be doing - but it helps to settle my nerves so there you go!

Cheers!

What a cute button postcard! Mary, you certainly are a quilter - having so much going on, getting ready for a move, and yet you still can't resist the sewing room. The wonky trees are great as well.
