#5 of 10 is done

I'm having to tear myself away from the sewing room to get my quilting done but with just 2 weeks and 6 tops left to meet my goal -- I knew I had to get down there tonight. With this one done....just 5 left to quilt.

This is a gorgeous HeartStrings top pieced by Sue I think from blocks made by Melva. Don't you love that green center strip with a narrow black on either side? This is the last of the tops I have here from our Green for Guys project last fall but not to worry I have lots of other tops!

I quilted this one with a pantograph - Lush Leaves and chose a dark green thread so that even with an allover pattern, the sashing looks *uninterrupted* by the quilting lines crossing it. You see the texture in the photo above but DON'T see the quilting thread. Both photos can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Gosh Mary, that one really is a show stopper. At first I thought it was all batiks but it's even more lovely than that. I wish you were nearby so I could benefit from your lovely quilting!

Wow. This is a really neat quilt. It inspires me, which is kinda hard to do these days. ;)

I love those small black strips with the green. It really makes those center strings POP!! I'll have to file away this idea for the future.

Wow! The colors on this ARE rich-- that's part of the appeal-- but the thin black strips on either side of the green-- what a great idea. The whole thing POPS! Yes, M&M, between the two of you, that's one of the best string quilts I've seen.

Beautiful! Those color combinations are stunning. I've used Lush Leaves before, and it's wonderful on this quilt Mary.

This is a pretty quilt with the green bordered by brown, but piecing it in the Heartstring method it would be hard to get everything to match up perfectly (that is - if you are like me and just like to lay your pieces down by eye!). I have made a very similar quilt but what I did was strip piece the segments together (brown would be the bottom skinny strip) and then used my triangle ruler to cut triangles... use green for sashing. Just one more construction method to consider for this beautiful design.
Cheers! Evelyn

P.S. - the quilt pictured looks perfect - I'm just saying that if I made it using that method - it wouldn't look anywhere near as perfect which is why I use the method I just described above!
