What I'm Reading

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

My sister-in-law lent me this book months ago telling me it was disturbing. I put off reading it for a long time and finally picked it up a couple days ago.

It was disturbing but I couldn't put it down. Hosseini's portrayal of the history and culture of Afghanistan and the drama of the relationships made it a remarkable book.

I read this last year (we can say that now about 2005!). I found it haunting- which seemed like a stereotyped description, but really, the story and characters follwed me around my daily life and Ijust couldn't get away from it. Sadly, it was my choice and my month for bookclub, and I ended up being too sick to go- so someone else led the discussion. At least I got to read it...

That is 3rd on my list to read. A friend highly recommended it.
