I finished the binding on the Rail Fence quilt last night so I'll show one final picture. I'm very happy with the improvement that the applique and quilting made to this rather unappealing top!
This quilt will be donated as part of the HeartStrings Quilt Project. Although it's not a string quilt, I feel that as long as we are donating non string quilts that are given to the Project to quilt and donate that I might as well label my own non string quilts with the HeartStrings label.

I don't know why you think it's an ugly quilt - it's not ugly at all and it's going to make someone very happy! You have a great blog and I'm sharing it with my local quilt guild on our Yahoo group - I'm introducing them to blogging and yours is one of the blogs I want the to see!
Definitely not an ugly quilt now! The applique and quilting finished it perfectly. Beautiful!
Really an awesome quilt! I'm working on a rail fence now.....maybe there'll be some trees and animals on it as well! It has the Holly Taylor nature fabrics (scraps) in it.
The applique makes all the difference in the world. Just what it needs to take it over the top. I am confused about the color in the pictures. Today it looks brown, but in the link, it looks like it is purple.Which photo shows true colors?
Very nice, I like especially the bears.
This turned out very cool!! I'm glad you tried the raw edge applique. I was wondering how to go about doing that!

I think it will be someone's treasure! I recently gave a baby quilt I was not thrilled with. Mom said the little girl grabbed it and RAN! HER treasure was not MY favorite...
Congratulations on getting this done! I had a similar UFO for years which I finall quilted using the walking foot on my Pfaff. I donated it for charity - figure someone won't care that it's unattractive as long as it is warm.
You really must stop calling this ugly - it's great and will be well loved by it's recipient I'm sure :)
