I don't know how well you'll be able to see the quilting in these photos but click on them to increase the size and maybe you'll see some of what I'm attempting.
Don't you just love the curls in this sashing? I've seen them on several quilts at MQ Resources and they're just gorgeous. Mine aren't perfect but I'm not too unhappy with them for a first attempt.
There's a lot more of this top to be quilted so we'll see how happy I am by the time I'm done.
By the way, as nice as it is to have someone shovel the sidewalks and driveway, and clear the stairs, there's something creepy about having someone clomp around on your steps after midnight when you're home alone.

Gorgeous quilting! Im still working up the courage to move on from in the ditch quilting and give free motion quilting a go!
I love the quilting. I think it looks pretty and I really like that purple fabric!
I'm so inspired by the Heartstrings quilts and I would like to make quilts to give away but to a really deserving recipient, the problem is that I live in the UK. Do you know of any like minded things in the UK? I love your stuff and keep peeping at your blog
terrific quilting Mary! it looks fabulous...
Your swirls are fantastic! Does Chesty bark when someone's outside clomping around?
The feathers and the swirls look great! See there, you can do it all!
Love the feathers and swirls!
Mary this is wonderful! I still want to "grow up" and be you someday!
What does Chesty think of someone clomping on your stairs? Being the little fraidy cat that I am, it would certainly creep me out! :~)
I love the pictures! My favorite thing-- to see what you've quilted and HOW you've quilted it today. Great job on the feathers and swirls-- ah Mary, you're my inspiration.
The curls look great.
Great backtracking Mary. Now how large are your feather thingies? All of them are beautiful.
Very nice! I guess all that practice paid off! Good job!
Wow, Mary, both the feathers and the swirls/curls are beautiful. I hope that I grow up to be able to quilt like you. ;o)
You are doing a fantastic job! Noise outside after dark is always creepy when alone. Strange that they would shovel around midnight.
The quilting looks great!
Great effort Mary. I love the swirls and even befor reading the blog, I noticed the different pattern in the quilting.
Now, if you'd been in bed and asleep, you wouldn't have heard the shovel going!. I don't even hear it in the day time myself. I must be going deaf....selectively of course.
Oh Mary! You are SO brave! I have a new panto on my frame...but I don't have enuf thread of the one I want...so I'm going to have to be BRAVE, and use a heavier thread. I like it alot, but have not used it much on the HQ16. Think I have more thread on my shopping list for the quilt show this weekend? You BETCHA!
Love that sashing work you did. Right on! Actually, I really like all the quilting work you did on this one so far.
Love both the swirls and the feathery bits, Mary. What threads are you using? the feathery areas seem to be in a darker color...also a different thread weight?
And, ewwwww, wouldn't like anyone clomping around on my steps so late at night...even someone I know!

Mary ... what kind of long arm machine do you have? Why did you pick that particular brand/model? Would you choose the same one again? If not, what would you do differently? Appreciate your candid response when you have a moment as I'm in the market for one.
